Increasingly employer's have become aware of a need to make provision for Mental Health & Wellbeing in the workplace. Every year large numbers of staff are taking time of work due to MH illness, with conditions such as stress brought about by work activities. This course is designed as a timely intervention system to prevent the growing crisis that someone may be experiencing. The trained workplace delegate will be given the highly professional skills to recognise and assist those who are in crisis.

    Course Aim

The course covers first aid from a mental health point of view, just like the EFAW course will cover injuries.

    Who Should Attend?

This course is open to eveyone, nobody will be excluded. The course is for first aid for adults but should you need training for under 18's we can help as well.

    Construction Industry?

We have arranged a training course specifically for the delegates from the construction industry. We are aware that 10% of construction workers either attempt or complete suicide (thats roughly 200) every year and we are on a mission to reduce this number as far as we can.

We would like to hear from construction companies, big or small who would like to discuss the issues they have, so we have set up a 'free breakfast session later in the year' which all are welcome to attend. Look for the date and booking details below.

The course aims are have a system in place in any workplace to recognise and prevent employees/others from being suffering mental health issues/crises. It is also designed to help site managers, agents and supervisors to:

  • Manage mental health wellbeing on site in accordance with current legal provisions, and within the context of their management or supervisory role
  • Develop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for mental health first aid when workers are in crises.

  • At the end of the period of training, Delegates will be aware of, and able to:

  • Deal with emergency crises situations, recognise those symtoms that are presented which suggest being unwell due to mental health issues and to signpost the sufferer to non workplace services.
  • Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this course. Delegates should have a sound understanding of English. Delegates with learning difficulties will not be excluded and we support those with issues such as dyslexia and make specific arrangements for assessments.
